Before the Doors Open: Why Our R&D Team Is Already in Singapore

This week, before the first visitor sets foot in Booth Q65, a ZASP delegation led by our President, Mr. Zhou, is already in Singapore — and most of the itinerary is not at the convention centre. It is at project sites: entrances already in service, gates still on the drawing board, and the ground conditions in between. The team travelling with him is deliberately weighted toward our R&D engineers — the people who design foundations, hydraulics and control interfaces, and who rarely get enough time with the people who live with their decisions.

We have written before that the questions that decide a supplier are universal: ground conditions, continuous duty, delivery discipline, life-cycle support. Hearing them is one thing. Standing at the gate where they matter — watching a delivery lorry queue at 8 a.m., asking the facility manager what fails first in tropical rain — is how answers actually enter a product roadmap.

A requirement list is a summary. A site visit is the original text.

From our Singapore branch, we have supported projects across Asia-Pacific for years. But this trip is a deeper commitment, and it follows a simple logic: products should be iterated where they are used. Every conversation this week feeds two tracks at once —

Product: mounting depths for the region's soil and water table, corrosion protection for coastal humidity, cycle ratings matched to actual gate traffic, control integration with the access-management platforms the market already runs. A rising bollard designed for a Frankfurt winter is not, automatically, one designed for a Singapore monsoon — and the differences live in exactly the details our engineers are here to see.

Service: spare-parts planning that respects a data centre's maintenance windows, remote diagnostics, firmware and control updates, and trained regional partners who can be on site. Our plan for Asia-Pacific is not a sales office with a warehouse behind it; it is a service network built around integrators, with engineering support from the manufacturer behind them.

This is what we mean by deep cultivation rather than presence. A trade fair lasts two days; a bollard in a city square serves for fifteen years. The decisions that matter are made long before opening ceremonies — in the meetings Mr. Zhou's team is having this week, on sites, with the people who will own the consequences.
